WINNER: 2001 WorldFest-Houston
International Film & Video Festival

GOLD AWARD — Independent Video

Since its inception in 1968, WorldFest-Houston has discovered some of today's top directors in the film industry, including:

  • Steven Spielberg
  • John Sayles
  • Hal Hartley
  • The Coen Brothers
  • Peter Weir
  • Ridley Scott
  • George Lucas

WorldFest remains one of the biggest indie film festivals around, with more than four thousand entries across all of its categories in 2001.

"Something Between Us," at feature length with a running time of 79 minutes, was entered in the Independent Video category because it was shot on Hi-8 video, digitized for editing on a PC, and then exported to Super-VHS. Transferring all 79 minutes to 35mm film would cost about US$40,000.
